The battle of Smolensk is won!
(Part 8 of a Campaign using Empire Campaign System and Empire V rules and Adler 6mm Napoleonic figures of the French Grande Armee invading Russia in 1812.)
The battle is won. The Russians withdraw swiftly under the protection of heavy rains and the encroaching nightfall.
I managed to get back to my place on Napoleon's staff. General Berthiere briefed me on the outcome of Ney's attack on the right which had smashed the entire right hand side of the Russian positions. The Polish in the centre were holding their own and advancing while the Westphalians on the left had managed to draw in a lot of attention from the Russian Grenadiers and Guard commanders.
I could just see through a crack in the door, the Emperor himself crouched over maps and working on his next move. No doubt he already had the next 10 moves planned out but I guess he was confiming what we all felt. The Russians would stand elsewhere and probably close by too.
There would be another battle in next few days and nearby.
... to be continued ...

Really love this kinda of stuff. These series of posts have forced me to get back into painting 6mm. Thanks for that.
Its also became almost as exciting waiting for updates as some of the best T.V shows out there. Please keep it up. Looking forward for the next Big encounter.
